The Pine Lake Comprehensive Plan

There are many formats a Comprehensive Plan may take.

Pine Lake has chosen to utilize a four part format.

These links are draft versions, in PDF format,

that have met submission criteria by review from the

Atlanta Regional Commission and are currently

under final review by the Department of Community Affairs.

Why Have a Comprehensive Plan?

In order to apply for and obtain State of Georgia grants, assistance

and state-administered federal programs, Pine Lake must be

classified as a Qualified Local Governement.

Pine Lake has been a Qualified Local Governement since 2003

when we filed - and gained approval - for our first Comprehensive Plan.

As a result of this achievement and continuing efforts

by the Mayor, City Council and City Administration,

Pine Lake has already obtained almost $1,000,000 in grants to:

1) construct sidewalks on Rockbridge Road, and

2) build streambank and water quality improvements

to our lake and Snapfinger Creek.

This statement comes from the DCA website:

What makes a community unique?

What does visioning have to do with community?

As the Cheshire cat says to Alice in Wonderland,

"if you do not know where you are going,

any old road will get you there."

So it is with a community.

Without a vision for what the community can be,

it doesn't really matter what it becomes.

But successful communities are those that

have articulated a vision and pulled

together to make that vision a reality.

A community vision, whether simple or involved,

can be a motivator throughout the community,

as long as it is created with inclusion in mind.
